Within weeks, demolition at the site of the future AERIE condominiums is scheduled to begin in Corona del Mar, CA. Construction won’t begin until after Labor Day.
The AERIE Project will be on the corner of Carnation Avenue and Ocean Boulevard. Richard and Karen Julian, the owners of the property, envision a “luxury condominium complex that would be in the style of Spanish architect” (Last Party Before Demolition, Construction of AERIE Project Begins, Corona del Mar Today), looking like it is growing out of the bluff. “AERIE will have 360-degree views, a private beach, boat docks, a shared “Sand Dollar Lounge” with a teppan grill, wok and pizza oven, a pool, private health club, elevators, wine cellars and green construction, according to a handout” (Corona del Mar Today).
The Julians had to fight for roughly three years to get the project through the Newport Beach Planning Commission and City Council; receiving approval from the Coastal Commission three years ago.
