The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro is hosting their annual Meet the Grunion nights starting in March and running through mid-July. Programming in the aquarium begins at 9 p.m., allowing you to walk around the exhibits at night with a hot drink, watch a short documentary on the grunion’s beaching ritual, get briefed, and then be taken out to the beach to wait for the run to begin.
The cost of attending the Meet the Grunion programming in the aquarium is $5/adults, $1/children/seniors/students with ID. There’s no charge for showing up on the beach once the crowds have moved there. Dress warm and bring flashlights!
The dates for the run in May are below:
May 7 (Monday) — 10:45 p.m. – 12:45 a.m.
May 22 (Tuesday) — 10:25 p.m. – 12:25 a.m. (May 22 is also the aquarium’s Grunion Fish-tival, celebrating all things grunion, with programming starting at 7 p.m.)
