Instead of large, costly home renovations, focus on enhancing your home’s exterior and making smaller, cost-efficient changes to the interior to attract home buyers.
According to a new survey from Zillow Digs®, today’s home sellers will benefit by focusing on curb appeal and smaller changes to the inside to attract home buyers. Zillow asked real estate agents and interior designers for their thoughts on the most valuable home improvements when thinking of selling your home.
What potential home buyers see from the street will influence their overall thoughts on your home; make their first impression a good one!
Small, inexpensive improvements could include: painting the front door a currently popular color such as black or burgandy, cleaning up the outside, adding bright flowers, and cleaning the driveway.
By having your home staged and removing your own personal pictures and knick-knacks, you allow buyers to picture themselves living in the house, and stylishly so as well.
3) Make small improvements
It typically does not make sense to do a large-scale renovation in hopes of selling at a higher price, since the cost of the improvement rarely pays for itself.
Instead, update on a smaller scale. Repaint your kitchen cabinets, add new hardware, paint your walls in neutral and light colors, update old-looking lighting fixtures.
4) Declutter and clean
You don’t have to hire anyone for this simple fix! Spend the weekend spring cleaning and boxing away all the clutter.
5) Invest in worthwhile upgrades
High on many buyers’ lists are granite counters and stainless steel appliance. If there is an area to splurge, this is currently the place to do so.
