Balboa Pier in Newport Beach
The Balboa Pier on the Newport Peninsula was built in 1906 as a companion to the Balboa Pavilion, in order to attract more visitors to the area (www.BalboaIslandHistory.com). It worked! And now Newport Beach and the Balboa Pier receives a huge amount of visitors each year (close to 500,000 visitors come to the Balboa Park Visitors Center yearly).
Now, along with the thousands of visitors the Balboa area/pier receive each year, it’s become a popular location to fish. And, of course, you have to stop into the Ruby’s Diner for a milkshake while you’re in the area!
