Living in Newport Beach: the Back Bay

Newport Beach Back Bay

Back Bay

The Newport Beach Back Bay is the island delta of Newport Beach, connecting Upper Newport Bay with Newport Harbor. The Santa Ana River flows through it and into the Newport Harbor.

The Back Bay is a nature reserve to several species of birds, making it a natural place to bird watch in Orange County. Other available activities include walking and jogging, biking, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding, and picnicking. It’s a popular location on the weekends, and is open to the public each day 7am to sunset.
