During the month of November in 2013, homes went into escrow or backup status rapidly–indicating that homebuyers are moving a little faster in the fall of 2013.
According to Redfin in their recent Real-Time Fastest Markets report, 27.2% homes in 23 US metros went under contract within two weeks of being listed in the month of November. This is a higher rate than in October 2013, which was at 26.9%; and higher still from a year ago in November 2012 (which was at 23.4%).While the number of homes selling within two weeks was slightly up, Redfin also reported an increase in the median number of days a home spent on the market—from 31 days in October to 34 in November.
