The Balboa Beacon last week had a brief article on LIGHTS UP — a showcase of the Arts featuring Newport Harbor High School actors and singers. The article that follows is from the Balboa Beacon.

Newport Harbor High School and Newport Harbor Educational Foundation announces LIGHTS UP — A Newport Harbor Showcase of the Arts featuring NHHS’s top actors and singers, 19 musicians, 22 dancers & returning alumni artists, May 15, 6pm in Robert B. Wentz Theater Loats Performing Arts Center.

The show’s Master of Ceremonies will be local alumnus. Immediately after the show, opportunity drawing winners will be selected for a new Apple iPad and an actual piece of the original NHHS bell tower mounted onto a base. Following the performance, a benefit will be held at the Environmental Nature Center, dinner, auction & live entertainment of NHHS 70’s band Kings Road.

Honorary Producer of Lights Up is motion picture director/producer, Frank Marshall, NHHS alumnus, ’64. Prior to the performance, guests will enjoy watching several students complete oil paintings of NHHS bell tower, which will be auctioned at ENC post-theater party.

The Lights Up fundraising goal of $100,000 will support a wide variety of programs serving all students at NHHS. Tickets $125 for theater & ENC dinner, or $50 and $25 for theater only. Tickets are available on the website or by calling 949-646-1556
